Colour

From the Victorian period to the 1970’s; if you’re a fan of retro design the best place to start is the colour. Walls are the perfect base to any style bathroom so lets start with a soft vintage pallet of powder blues and creams to achieve a traditional Victorian or Edwardian style. Moving on to the Great Gatsby era you can go bold with splashes of black and gold for the famous opulence of the 1920’s and 30’s. For the second half of the 20th century pops of red, pale pink and buttercup yellows can be introduced for a 1950’s interior style. Pretty much anything goes if you love the 1960’s and 70’s as deep mustards, forest greens and purples were all the rage back then.

Bathroom Suites

If you’re a fan of more classic style you should opt for a free standing claw foot bath or a roll top tub which will never fail to be stylish. Art deco style fittings are perfect for a 1930’s themed room and more modular ergonomically shaped baths, basins and toilets work wonderfully in a Mid Century Modern home. We also have a range of referential taps to add an extra layer of detail to your retro scheme.

Lighting

Lighting is so important in any style bathroom but if you’re not sure what to go for you can never fail with un-obtrusive spot lighting that will highlight all your retro fittings. If you would like to add more impactful lighting you can add in wall mounted sconces and lampshades for that vintage touch or maybe even a crystal chandelier if you want to introduce some Victorian opulence. No vintage style bathroom is complete without some candles and retro candle sticks are a great way to add in some more style, from decorative Baroque candle holders to 1960’s Scandinavian ones there are so many designs to choose from.

Patterns

Pattern design has always been hugely important in interior design. Introduce some retro inspired prints to your bathroom by introducing tiles on the floors or walls. Patterned tiles are a big trend and as they can inject some real personality to a room we can see why. Textiles like towels and curtains are another great way to introduce prints. Why not think back to your grandmother’s bathroom for inspiration and inject some of that homely vintage feel into your bathroom.
